Offshore and coastal fishing

The fisheries sector can roughly be divided into five links in the chain: fishing, the fish auction, wholesalers, processing, and retail trade. The companies in IJmuiden which are active in the first two links of the chain are listed further below. Leading shipowners include Cornelis Vrolijk’s Visserijmaatschappij and Parlevliet & Van der Plas, both of whom have become leading players in the pelagic trawler fisheries sector.
